Overview

Mick contacted us about a serious shoulder injury he suffered in a workplace event.  He had worked in manual jobs all of his working life and had no formal education. It was recommended that he stick to sedentary work in the future.  Mick had an accepted workers’ compensation statutory claim which come to an end and came to us needing to make a decision about a lump sum offer payout in a Notice of Assessment (under $40,000).

Our Approach

In Mick’s case we gathered:

  • Records of treating health care providers;
  • Expert medical evidence;
  • Records from statutory authorities who had investigated the employer.

At each step of the way in Mick’s case, we kept him informed of what we wanted to do and why we believed it would be of benefit to his case.

Outcome

Within 6 months of commencing his common law claim, Mick’s matter settled at a settlement conference with the insurer for a six-figure payout for his shoulder injury.
