Principal Lawyer
Kate is Denning Insurance Law’s founder and our Principal Lawyer. Brisbane born and bred, she has spent over two decades working in the areas of insurance and personal injuries law and has helped successfully resolve thousands of cases.

While Kate is highly qualified at helping businesses defend claims against them, challenging insurer’s decisions and working with injured people in personal injuries claims, her biggest asset is her ability to strategically tailor her legal approach to the matter at hand. Her clients love to work with her because she is about the person and the people. She delivers high-value, specialised legal services, expertly manages high-stakes matters, and does it all with a hands-on approach that is personalised to you.
When she’s not settling claims with expert dispute resolution, Kate loves to take long walks with her cavoodle (and her three kids if she can get them) and watching true crime documentaries. Law Clerk
Annie is a dedicated dual Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Justice student, currently in her final year of study. With a strong passion for health and medical law, Annie is committed to helping people and making a difference in the community.

With almost 30 years experience as a Brisbane-based lawyer specialising in insurance and injury law, David has the technical skills and expertise to assist clients of Denning Insurance Law.
Having decided to call time on his full-time legal practice in Queensland and head to Tasmania for his long-awaited tree change, David leapt at the opportunity to join Denning Insurance Law in a remote capacity. After understanding points of contention or issues in dispute, David enjoys communicating with representatives of insurers and corporate entities to assist clients find resolutions to their problems.
When David is not undertaking file work or reading recent authorities, he is enjoying life on his farm with his wife and animals in southern Tasmania overlooking Bruny Island.

Throughout her studies, Annie has undertaken numerous core biomedical science units, sparking her particular interest in clinical negligence, bioethics, personal injury, and the regulation of Queensland’s healthcare system at large. Her academic focus and genuine care for others drive her dedication to this field.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Annie enjoys spoiling her puppy, Rosie, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Anne-Maree Ryan
Paralegal
Anne-Maree is Denning Insurance Law’s personable and incredibly experienced paralegal. In fact, Anne-Maree has had over 20 years in the legal and insurance industries, supporting lawyers in their client-focused work.

Her work has centred around helping parties manage matters relating to accidents, injuries and insurance, including dealing with medical experts, witnesses and regulatory bodies.
Anne-Maree worked at a large firm for many years before coming to Denning, and it was the draw of the smaller firm, and the chance to have more personal interactions with clients, that brought her to us. We feel extremely lucky to have Anne-Maree on board who is not only incredibly talented, but a great support for our clients as well. As a foodie who loves eating out with her husband and two daughters, we can also always count on Anne-Maree for tips on where to get a delicious meal at a local restaurant or club.

David Giacomantonio
Special Counsel
David has spent over three decades working in the insurance industry, mainly as an insurance lawyer and former partner of several national law firms. He is Brisbane born and bred.

While completing his legal studies in Brisbane, David fell into insurance law by working part-time at a national insurance law firm. He never looked back. For the next 25 years, David worked exclusively in the areas of insurance law and personal injuries. He is best recognised for setting up the Brisbane office of Moray & Agnew Lawyers in 2000 and running the last personal injuries jury trial in Queensland (Murchie v The Big Kart Track Pty Ltd [2002] QSC 68).
Before resuming his legal career with Denning Insurance Law, David experienced a genuine tree change in 2018 when he moved to Tasmania. While away from his home state of Queensland, David continued to work exclusively in the insurance industry as a lawyer, assessor, investigator, claims officer and Ombudsman at AFCA.
David’s legal knowledge, and fulsome understanding of the insurance industry and its processes, makes him a valuable asset when assisting our clients navigate insurance and injury claims.
Away from his professional commitments, David lives on a farm near Warwick with his wife and their array of rescue animals and pleasure horses. David is heavily involved in animal ethics volunteer work for a number of universities and organisations.
